Congress passed legislation in 1996 to establish the Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG). Before then, the Postal Inspection Service had conducted oversight of the Postal Service and reported to the Postmaster General. This report, submitted pursuant to the Inspector General Act, outlines their work and activities for the six-month period ending March 31, 2022
During this period, the OIG issued 51 audit reports, management advisories, and white papers, and the Postal Service accepted 88% of the recommendations from the OIG.
